Chinese Ambassador to the United Kingdom Zheng Zeguang said on Saturday that there is "great potential" for cooperation between China and the UK in areas such as trade, investment, education, culture, and sports. He said both sides should make greater efforts for "healthy, stable" bilateral relations despite differences.

Zheng added that some politicians in the UK "never change their opinions on China" but that it is important not to allow them to "hijack" China-UK relations, Global Times reported. He expressed hope that the recent increase in bilateral interactions could "help expand cooperation in different fields."
