China: Hamas, Fatah both agree to continue dialogue

The Chinese Foreign Ministry stated on Tuesday that Hamas and Fatah have expressed willingness to engage in dialogue for the sake of finding a permanent solution to the question of Palestine's status.

Speaking at a press conference, the ministry added that both sides agreed on the basic outlook for a future dialogue.

The remarks came after China offered to host negotiations between Hamas, a militant group, and Fatah, the largest party within the coalition forming the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), which have had a strained relationship. Earlier this month, Hamas accused Fatah of trying to infiltrate in the former's conflict with Israel in the Gaza Strip.
