Cillian Murphy won the Oscar for Best Actor for his leading role in Oppenheimer at the 96th Academy Awards on Sunday.
Murphy accepted his first-ever Oscar for his portrayal of scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan’s biopic Oppenheimer, thus becoming the third Irish actor to win the Best Actor Oscar. This was also his first-ever Oscar nomination. He stated that he is a "very very proud Irishman."
Meanwhile, Emma Stone won the Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance as Bella Baxter in the movie "Poor Things," marking her second win at the Oscars. She won her first Oscar for 2016's "La La Land," when she was up for Best Actress.
