Coal mine fire in China kills 16

A coal mine fire in southern China's Guizhou province claimed the lives of 16 individuals, China Central Television reported, citing local authorities.

The incident occurred at the Shanjiaoshu coal mine in the town of Panguan and preliminary findings suggest that the victims were trapped when a conveyor belt caught fire.

The city where the mine in question is located is about 3,600 kilometers southwest of Beijing.
