Colombia wishes to join BRICS as soon as possible

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva was hosted by Colombian President Gustavo Petro in Bogota, the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed in a statement.

During Lula's visit, Petro shared that his country would like to become a part of BRICS "as soon as possible." Brazil's head of state welcomed the initiative, pledging to promote Colombia's candidacy.

The presidents also discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, stressing the importance of strengthening trade, security, the technological development.
