A portrait of United States President Donald Trump will be removed from the Colorado state Capitol after he criticized it as "purposefully distorted."

Trump said he would rather have no portrait than the one currently displayed. He praised a nearby painting of former President Barack Obama, calling it "wonderful."

The portrait, created by artist Sarah Boardman, was unveiled in 2019 after Colorado Republicans raised more than $10,000 to commission it. House Democrats confirmed its removal on Monday, stating that Republican leaders had requested it.
