The number of victims rose to 44 following an explosion at a political rally in northwestern Pakistan, with nearly 200 people suffering injuries in the incident.
It is believed that a suicide bomber detonated his explosives near the platform on July 30, where several prominent leaders of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam party were sitting.
"It is clear from the attack on political parties that the enemy is against the democratic system in Pakistan.." the country's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said. "Those responsible will be identified and punished," he stressed.
