Serbian Novak Djokovic became a 7-time Wimbledon champion after beating Australian Nick Kyrgios in the finals on Sunday in four sets of 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6(3).
Despite the shaky start to the match, the top-seeded player drew out mistakes and managed to clinch his 21st Grand Slam title, one more than Roger Federer and one fewer than Rafael Nadal. "Yeah he is a bit of a god, I'm not going to lie," said Kyrgios, congratulating Djokovic. "I'm really happy with this result and maybe one day I'll be here again but I don't know about that."
"Nick, you'll be back. Not just in Wimbledon but in many finals. You showed why you are one of the best players in the world," his opponent answered. "I lost words for what this trophy means," Djokovic added, calling Wimbledon "the most special court in the world." "Every year it gets more meaningful, I am really blessed," he concluded.
