DoJ has until 3pm Friday to say if Trump backs warrant unsealing

United States Federal Judge Bruce Reinhard, who will be in charge of monitoring the unsealing process, told the Department of Justice (DoJ) that it has until 3 pm ET Friday to confirm if former US President Donald Trump is in favor of or against unsealing the warrant.

Reinhard wrote in an order that the DoJ will "immediately" present Trump's attorneys with "a copy of its Motion," adding that "on or before 3:00 pm Eastern time on August 12, 2022, the United States shall file a certificate of conferral advising whether former President Trump opposes the Government's motion to unseal."

The order came not long after US Attorney General Merrick Garland announced that DoJ has made an appeal to the judge to publicly release the search warrant used by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to raid Trump's residence in Palm Beach, Florida.
