Major US stock markets closed higher on Friday, with the Dow Jones climbing over 290 points. During the session, United States Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell reaffirmed that the central bank can tighten policy further if needed. Following the Fed chief's speech, gold reached its highest level since May.
Also today, it was learned that OpenAI delayed the launch of the GPT store until 2024, and Ford fired back at Tesla, announcing that sales of the F-150 Lighting hit a new record in November.
At the close, the Dow Jones gained 0.82% or 294 points, with Walgreens Boots rising 3.99%. The Nasdaq 100 added 0.31%, and Warner Bros Discovery was leading the gains, improving by 8.33%. The S&P 500 rose 0.59%, as Boston Properties increased by 10.91%
The euro was flat against the dollar at 3:58 pm ET, selling for $1.08796.
