Dow up by almost 600 pts amid tariff talks

Major stock market indexes in the United States extended their gains on Monday as traders felt optimistic about President Donald Trump's prospective tariffs on foreign goods such as semiconductors and cars and, therefore, investing in those sectors and companies like Tesla Inc., AppLovin Corporation, MicroStrategy Inc., and Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD).

The Dow Jones Industrial Average soared by 1.42% or 596 points at 12:11 pm ET. Simultaneously, the Nasdaq 100 surged by 2.07% or 208 points. The S&P 500 jumped by 1.72%.

The euro lost 0.14% to the dollar at 12:19 pm ET to sell for $1.08011.
