Attorney General Ken Paxton was acquitted of all 16 charges brought against him in the impeachment trial in the state Senate.
The upper house needed a two-thirds majority for conviction but failed to reach the threshold to convict Paxton on any of the articles of impeachment, which were mostly related to bribery and corruption.
Despite bipartisan support for Paxton's removal, only Republican Senators Robert Nichols and Kelly Hancock joined all 12 Democrats in favor of conviction on several charges.
