United States oil inventories fell by 5.4 million barrels to 457.8 million barrels for the week ending August 25, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported on Wednesday. The week before that, crude oil inventories decreased by 3.3 million barrels.
Crude oil inputs averaged over 17.7 million barrels per day last week, or 264,000 barrels per day more than the previous week's average. Refineries operated at 96.6% of their capacity.
Crude oil imports averaged 7.9 million barrels per day in the same period which is 885,000 barrels per day less than the week before that.
