United States oil inventories fell by 6.5 million barrels to 475.4 million barrels for the week ending August 4, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported on Wednesday. Week before that, crude oil stocks declined by 1.5 million barrels.
Crude oil inputs averaged 17.6 million barrels per day last week, which is 166,000 barrels per day more than the previous week's average. Refineries operated at 96.3% of their capacity.
Crude oil imports averaged 7.8 million barrels per day in the same period which is 491,000 barrels per day less than the week before that.
