The European Union's new top officials, Kaja Kallas, the EU foreign policy chief, and Antonio Costa (pictured), head of the European Council, arrived in Kiev on Sunday to demonstrate unwavering support for Ukraine.
Their visit marks the first day of their mandates, symbolizing the EU's steadfast backing nearly three years into Russia's invasion. Kallas and Costa, accompanied by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, are holding talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Costa emphasized the EU's commitment: "We stand with Ukraine and continue our full support." Kallas added that the bloc seeks to position Ukraine for a strong negotiating stance if peace talks emerge.
