The European Union will facilitate a "civilian mission" to Armenia to help delineate the borders with Azerbaijan, following the quadrilateral meeting between the two countries' officials in Prague, amid the rising tensions in the region, according to a statement released by the European Council on Friday.
"The mission will start in October for a maximum of two months. The aim of this mission is to build confidence and, through its reports, to contribute to the border commissions," the statement said.
During the two-day quadrilateral meeting between French President Emmanuel Macron, European Council President Charles Michel, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev the day before, Yerevan and Baku reaffirmed their commitment to the agreements under which they acknowledged both countries' territorial integrity and sovereignty.
