The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has officially notified Boeing that it will launch an investigation into last week's incident involving a 737-9 Max, the federal office said in a statement on Thursday.
"This incident should have never happened, and it cannot happen again," the FAA said, adding that the company failed to ensure that the finished products met the approved design or that these were in a safe operating condition in accordance with existing regulations.
Boeing has to follow " high safety standards," and it is legally responsible for what happens, the FAA noted. The development comes after the latest saga of the company, when an Alaska Airlines aircraft suffered a partial fuselage blowout, forcing an emergency landing.
