Egypt proposed a new plan to try and reinstate the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, the Associated Press reported on Monday, citing an unnamed Egyptian official.
According to the report, the new plan proposed that Hamas release five living hostages, including an American-Israeli, while Israel would allow for humanitarian aid to be brought into the Gaza Strip and release hundreds of Palestinian prisoners. The proposed deal also reportedly called for one week of pause in the fighting.
The report also cited a Hamas official who said the militant group "responded positively" to Egypt's proposal.
