Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed on Sunday in a statement that it would host an emergency Arab summit on February 27 in order to address "the latest serious developments" surrounding Gaza.
The ministry stated that it decided to hold the summit after "extensive consultations by Egypt at the highest levels with Arab countries in recent days." It further added that Palestine was the one to send in the request for the meeting to be organized.
Recently, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the United States and met with US President Donald Trump. During their meeting, Trump made comments that sent the international community into an uproar, saying that he sees "long-term" US ownership of the Gaza Strip.
