Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty (pictured right) on Wednesday underscored the importance of reconstructing the Gaza Strip while rejecting any forced displacement of Palestinians "especially given their attachment to their land and their refusal to leave it."
During the meeting with Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mohammad Mostafa (pictured left), the Egyptian foreign minister also stressed the urgency to deliver humanitarian aid at an "accelerated pace" to the enclave, the foreign ministry revealed in the statement.
His remarks come following United States President Donald Trump's remarks that Washington would like to "own" the Gaza Strip, claiming that everyone he spoke to "loves the idea."
