Europe closes lower after German data

Major stock markets in Europe closed the session on Friday trading lower as investors evaluated the latest updates on Germany's factory orders and the country's impact on the decline in retail sales across the Eurozone.

Furthermore, market participants scrutinized reports on the housing prices and construction activity in the United Kingdom.

The DAX closed 1.24% or 228 points lower as Zalando SE dropped by 5.68% at the close. The FTSE 100 fell 0.81% with Ocado Group PLC down 8.99%. The CAC 40 lost 1.11% a minute later as Eurofins Scientific SE decreased 4.75% a minute later. The Euro Stoxx 50 nosedived 1.10% with Adyen N.V. declining 4.39% at the closing bell.

The euro was 0.06% down against the dollar at 5:31 pm CET, selling for $1.08301. In comparison, the pound decreased 0.16% to go for $1.26217 at the same time.
