Major stock markets in Europe opened flat to lower on Wednesday as investors kept their focus on the latest corporate earnings and economic data reports. Before the markets opened, TotalEnergies published its results for the fourth quarter in 2023, while Swiss unemployment rate, German industrial production, and British house prices revealed the most recent figures.
The Euro Stoxx 50 and the FTSE 100 both traded flat at the beginning of the trading session. The DAX lost 0.06% with Deutsche Bank AG going down by 0.62% while the CAC 40 decreased 0.08% as TotalEnergies declined 1.55%.
The euro gained 0.14% against the dollar to go for 1.07720 at 8:59 am CET and the pound increased 0.22% compared to the greenback, going for 1.26279 at the same time.
