The seasonally adjusted construction output in the Eurozone saw a monthly decline of 0.9% in May, the European Commission's statistical office Eurostat said in its report published on Thursday. In the European Union, the figure dropped by 1.0%. Compared to the same month in 2023, the numbers fell by 2.4% in the euro area and 2.5% in the EU.
The output was observed to drop monthly in all of its subfields. It went down by 1.0% in construction of buildings, 0.6% in civil engineering, and 1.1% in specialized construction activities.
Among the Eurozone's members, the Czech Republic, Romania, and Hungary recorded the sharpest decreases of 5.1%, 4.1%, and 3.8%, respectively. The highest rises were seen in Finland at 1.9%, Bulgaria at 1.1%, and Belgium and Spain at 0.3%.
