Former House Representative from Texas Will Hurd announced on Thursday that he will join the race for the Republican nomination for the 2024 United States presidential election.
"This morning, I filed to be the Republican nominee for president of the United States," Hurd, who served as a representative from 2015 to 2021, told CBS.
According to an Emerson College poll published today, former US President Donald Trump is still the clear favorite to win the GOP nomination, with the support of 59% of Republican respondents. Trump is followed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, whom 21% of poll participants named as their pick for the party's nominee.
