The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), alongside Homeland Security Investigations and New York City Police Department, was spotted raiding the properties of Russian President Vladimir Putin's close ally and a billionaire, sanctioned Russian oligarch Viktor Vekselberg (pictured), reported NBC News on Thursday, citing sources familiar with the matter.
According to the sources, Vekselberg's properties in Duck Pond Lane in Southampton, New York, and Park Avenue in Manhattan were searched by detectives and agents, who allegedly carried a number of boxes out of the estates. The sources further shared that another property, linked to Vekselberg, in Miami’s Fisher Island, is currently being examined. Vekselberg was one of the first Russian oligarchs to be sanctioned in the US, with the country officials seizing his $900 million superyacht earlier in April.
