The United States Federal Trade Commission announced on Friday it will scrap the antitrust trial into Meta Platform's Inc.'s aquisition deal with virtual reality (VR) company Within Unilimited Inc.
Last July, the agency filed a lawsuit in both federal and state courts in the effort to halt the merger between the two companies. However, following the hearing in December California district court ruled in favor of Meta, stating that the Federal Trade Commission failed to provide sufficient evidence that would prove that Meta's acquisition would pose a danger to the virtual reality market.
The tech giant formally finalized the deal to acquire Within, the VR developer behind fitness app Supernatural on February 8 this year.
