After Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger abruptly left Instagram, the service will be led by Adam Mosseri (pictured). The new chief executive was promoted from the position of product chief, Facebook Inc. revealed on Monday. The two cofounders issued a statement to praise his "strong design background and a focus on craft and simplicity." Mosseri has "a deep understanding of the importance of community," they said.
The endorsement indicates the management is pressing for a smooth transition after media rumors about Systrom and Krieger's disagreement with the team of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg about how the division is run.
The head of the social network, which is focused on photography, is assuming his responsibilities immediately, according to the announcement. He became an executive in Instagram in May after coming to Facebook ten years before. He held top positions in mobile app design and the News Feed section.
