United States Federal Reserve Bank of Boston President Susan Collins told CNBC on Friday that she is not ruling out the possibility of further monetary tightening, stressing that it is premature to declare victory on inflation despite recent "good news."
The Fed official described the latest data as "very noisy," highlighting that the central bank must be "patient" as its policy is "working its way through the economy," which could be observed in the country's labor market that is slowly "coming into balance."
Daly pointed out that the central bank needs to keep a close eye on housing inflation while underscoring that the latest reading on consumer prices is "promising."
