Stephen Flynn, a member of the United Kingdom parliament for Aberdeen South, has been named as leader of the Scottish National Party in the UK House of Commons on Tuesday.
Flynn stressed in a statement that the SNP "will be relentlessly focused on standing up for Scotland's interests and our democratic right to decide our future in an independence referendum," singling out "Brexit, austerity cuts and the Tory cost of living crisis" as the main reasons why Scots are "paying a devastating price under Westminster control."
Ian Blackford, Flynn's predecessor, quit the post after five years to work on the efforts to win Scotland's independence from the UK.
