Ford to reduce dependence on VW for next generation EVs

Ford would be willing to stop relying on Volkswagen technology for its next generation of electric cars in Europe, Martin Sander, Head of Electric Vehicles in Europe, was quoted as saying by the Financial Times (FT) on Monday.

Starting in the middle of the decade, Ford expects to launch vehicles with its own system, ending an alliance established by the two manufacturers two years ago. "We are exploring all kinds of opportunities, how far we can go, what kind of segments we can cover with this," Sander told the FT.

According to the information given, the US group, for its part, will keep manufacturing VW's next delivery van, as well as its next pick-up truck and a possible future electric van.
