France is working on a draft of a United Nations Security Council resolution that would call for the recognition of the Palestinian state, Israel's Channel 12 reported on Thursday.
The resolution is also set to include a call for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas and the condemnation of the latter. Furthermore, it is set to urge Hamas to release hostages. However, the outlet also cited Israel's envoy to the UN as saying that the French resolution "plays into Hamas' hands" and "rewards terrorism."
Earlier this week, the UNSC passed a non-binding resolution urging a ceasefire in Gaza and the immediate release of Hamas' hostages with 14 member states voting in favor and the United States abstaining.
