Delta Air Lines Inc. plans to introduce a free WiFi service for its passengers early next year, The Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday citing people familiar with the matter. The company is aiming to offer the service to a "significant" number of its aircraft in 2023, with the intention to be an in-flight feature throughout the rest of its planes.
Delta currently offers a free messaging service with iMessage, Facebook Messenger, and WhatsApp but charges for WiFi access that can be accessed via a subscription. However, in light of the impending free service, Delta's frequent-flier members can currently access the free internet feature on some domestic flights.
The airline reported last Wednesday an expectation to deliver strong top-line EPS growth for 2023.
