The foreign ministers of the countries comprising the Group of Seven (G7) held a meeting on Monday in Karuizawa, Japan, and discussed, among other topics, global food and energy security.
According to the written statement posted by the Japanese Foreign Ministry, Tokyo's chief diplomat Yoshimasa Hayashi described "enhancing engagement with international partners through the active contributions of the G7 to various global challenges" as his country's priority during its presidency over the G7.
The ongoing G7 foreign ministers' summit is taking place between April 16 and 18 in the presence of Hayashi, United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken, British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly, the foreign ministers of Canada, France, Germany, and Italy Melanie Joly, Catherine Colonna, Annalena Baerbock, and Antonio Tajani, respectively, and European External Action Service (EEAS) Director-General Enrique Mora.
