G7 says Russia sanctions won't target food products

EPA-EFE/CLEMENS BILAN

The Group of Seven issued a statement on Tuesday at the end of its 48th summit saying its latest sanctions against Russia won't target the imports of food and other agricultural products.

World leaders called on all western partners to avoid "unjustified restrictive trade measures" that could put global food security at risk and reiterated their commitment to keeping agricultural markets open.

Furthermore, the G7 urged all countries that possess significant food stockpiles to provide them to the world without distorting the food market.
