General Motors' subsidiary Cruise will pay a $1.5 million fine over incomplete reports about crashes involving its self-driving cars, the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced on Monday.
The company will also be required to provide the NHTSA with " a corrective action plan on how it will improve its compliance" with the NHTSA's Standing General Order that requires crash reports within specified timeframes based on the severity of a crash.
"NHTSA is using its enforcement authority to ensure operators and manufacturers comply with all legal obligations and work to protect all road users," the regulator's Deputy Administrator Sophie Shulman said.
