United States Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer revealed he had made an attempt to postpone the Senate vote on Amy Coney Barrett's Supreme Court nomination but that his efforts were blocked by Republicans in the upper congressional chamber.
He tried to adjourn the Senate until after the November presidential election so the decision on whether Coney Barrett should take Justice Ruth Ginsburg's place and serve a lifetime tenure on the bench is not rushed.
"The Senate Republicans voted to ignore—to laugh at—the wishes of the American people," Schumer wrote in a tweet.
