The annual inflation rate in Germany stood at 2.2% in March, just as the preliminary document and analysts predicted it would, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) revealed in its final report published on Friday. Month-on-month, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) went up by 0.3%.
The increase was driven mostly by the rise in food prices, which accelerated by 3.0% compared to March 2024. Meanwhile, energy saw an annual drop of 2.8%. The core inflation rate, excluding food and energy, advanced by 2.6%.
The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) grew by 2.3% year-on-year and 0.4% month-on-month.
