Annual inflation in Germany came in at 2.3% in February, down from 2.6% in January and in line with the preliminary reading, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) said in its final report on Friday. Compared to January, the consumer price index increased by 0.4%.
Food product prices experienced a 2.6% jump on an annual basis, contributing to the increase in the overall inflation rate. On the other hand, energy product prices observed an annual decline of 1.6%. The inflation rate, excluding food and energy, stood at 2.7%.
Finally, the report also noted that in February 2025 the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices saw a year-over-year increase of 2.6% and a monthly rise of 0.5%.
