Italian Minister of Enterprises and "Made in Italy" Adolfo Urso, German Economy Minister Robert Habeck, and French Economy and Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire, agreed to bolster up cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI), the former's ministry shared in a statement on Monday.
The three met in Rome to discuss "views ... on Artificial Intelligence (AI), as part of the overall efforts towards the digital and green transition," the statement read. "AI is a key technology for the future. Europe's future competitiveness depends crucially on whether we succeed in developing AI [on the continent]," Habeck stressed.
Le Maire noted that Europe must "rise to the challenge," as AI is expanding rapidly and holds "tremendous potential." Meanwhile, Urso remarked that the area needs to be approached "with a shared vision." The three officials agreed AI should be placed "at the core" of the European Union's industrial policy while adding that their countries will be simplifying procedures "for multi-country projects."
