SoftBank Group Corp. is considering a massive 150 trillion yen (about $1 trillion) investment in the US AI sector, Nikkei reported on Friday. The initiative involves developing industrial parks where AI-driven factories operate with minimal human intervention, addressing labor shortages.
Should the plan proceed, it would surpass previous announcements in the North American country, marking a significant expansion of its ambitions.
SoftBank Chairman and CEO Masayoshi Son is reportedly in the US and is expected to discuss the "Industrial Park Concept" with the US administration. If realized, this investment would reinforce the company's commitment to AI development and automation in manufacturing.
