German foreign ministry spokesperson Sebastian Fischer criticized on Friday the most recent report of Amnesty International accusing Israel of genocide over its military campaign in Gaza.
"The question of genocide presupposes a clear intention to eradicate an ethnic group. I still do not recognize any such clear intention and therefore I cannot share the conclusions of the report," the German representative told the press.
Yesterday, Amnesty International presented a report in which it documented Israel's actions during its offensive on the occupied Gaza Strip from 7 October 2023. In its conclusion, the humanitarian group stated it "found sufficient basis to conclude that Israel committed ... prohibited acts under Articles II (a), (b) and (c) of the Genocide Convention."
