Germany is planning to evacuate its citizens from Lebanon and other Middle East countries amid heightened tensions between Israel and Iran, and Lebanon-based and Iran-backed Hezbollah, German news outlet Der Spiegel reported on Monday.
According to the report, the German Air Force is preparing a fleet of A400M transport aircraft for the evacuation. These planes will transport Germans from Lebanon's capital Beirut to Cyprus.
Last week, the German government called on its nationals to urgently leave Lebanon amid fears that Israel may launch an intense attack on that country in response to the Hezbollah attack on the Golan Heights that killed 12 people.
