German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said his country will double its military aid to Ukraine in 2024 amid its war with Russia.
"This is a strong signal to Ukraine, showing we are not giving up on it," Pistorius told ARD and noted the government came up with the plan, which needs to be approved by lawmakers, after finding that "planned amounts" sent to Ukraine this year "were quickly exhausted."
Earlier in the day, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said he is committed to maintaining dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin but warned that Moscow must pull its troops out of Ukraine before any substantive peace negotiations with Kiev can begin.
