Google LLC cut hundreds of jobs in its platforms and devices unit, which builds Android software, Chrome browser, and Pixel phones, The Information reported on Friday, citing a source briefed on the matter.

In January, Google offered voluntary exits to all US unit employees after it decided to combine its Android and hardware teams, creating a new platforms and devices unit run by Rick Osterloh.

Last year, the company reduced staff in various units following its 2023 layoffs, which resulted in a 6% reduction of its global workforce.
