Alphabet Inc.'s Google LLC announced the details of a $700 million settlement reached in September with New York Attorney General Letitia James and attorneys general from California, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Utah, in a blog post.
The main focus of the settlement was the court's decision that Google should pay $630 million into a settlement fund which is to be distributed "for the benefit of consumer" and a further $70 million to be used by the states that settled.
The settlement also included multiple steps to be undertaken by Google, starting with the "clearly stated fact" that the original equipment manufacturers should be able to provide users with options other than the Google Play Store.
