Guatemala's Supreme Court ordered late on Saturday the review of the ballots of the presidential election's first round.
The move comes after former first lady and candidate Sandra Torres obtained 15.8% of the votes in the June 25 round, followed closely by Bernardo Arevalo, with 11.8%. Some analysts expect Arevalo to win the second round due to Torres' unpopularity in the capital, Guatemala City.
The court declared that it would suspend the electoral processes in the Central American country until the ballots were audited, acting at the request of Torres' party and other allied groups.
