The hacker group BlackCat is blackmailing Reddit, threatening the company it will leak confidential information stolen from the platform unless Reddit pays them $4.5 million and abandons plans to introduce fees for some third-party developers, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday.
According to the report, the hackers first only asked for the money, but after receiving no response, decided to request Reddit to scrap plans to introduce the fees, in response to developers' demands.
The social media company confirmed in February that it was hacked but insisted no user data was compromised. Reddit is yet to comment on the ransom request.
