The global economy is forecast to grow by 3% in 2025, a report by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) said on Monday, revising down last month's estimate of 3.1%. OPEC predicted that trade uncertainty will impact all major economies, with the United States seeing its growth slowing in the first quarter and decelerating further in the second before expected trade agreements with most of its trading partners bring a recovery. The US is forecast to grow by 2.1% this year and 2.2% in 2026.
Meanwhile, the Eurozone's growth was revised down to 0.8% in 2025 and remains unchanged in 2026 at 1.1%. China is seen adding 4.6% in 2025 and 4.5% in 2026 as OPEC said it "has means to limit the impact [of US tariffs], such as domestic stimulus measures or further diversifying its export markets." Global growth in 2026 is projected at 3.1%, compared to 3.2% in the previous report.
