The Palestinian militant group Hamas stated it will "likely" respond to Israel's ceasefire proposal, that it received through mediators, within the next 48 hours, the Agence France Presse reported on Tuesday, citing a senior Hamas official.
"Hamas will most likely send its response to the mediators within the next 48 hours, as the movement is still conducting in-depth consultations... within its leadership framework, as well as with resistance factions, in order to formulate a unified position," the official stated, according to the report.
The group previously stated that it is "considering" the proposal it received from mediators "with great national responsibility" after reportedly rejecting another proposal sent by Egypt that called for the group's disarmament.
