United States Vice President and Democratic nominee in the 2024 presidential election Kamala Harris slammed former President Donald Trump's pledge to carry out the "largest deportation in American history," accusing his administration of tearing "families apart."
"Imagine what that would look like," Harris said, addressing the crowd at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) in Washington DC, "How's that gonna happen? Massive detention camps? What are they talking about?" At the same time, Harris said there was a need to reform what she referred to as America's "broken immigration system" but added it is possible to both protect the border and "create" a path to citizenship.
Harris said "Donald Trump and his extremist allies will keep trying to pull us backward," while also criticizing the former president's economic and social programs.
